Weebles wobble and they DO fall down!

Beatrix is really wanting to sit on her own, she tries to pull herself up when she's in her swing and tries to steady herself when sitting on a lap. Unfortunately she is like a little, funny drunk person. She gets all serious, then a little scared, then the cockiness sets in and she finds herself quite amusing! The minute she gets settled, she finds it so hilarious that she pushes herself back...completely defeating the purpose! At least she is trying!

I think I'm obsessed with my kids♥

Why is it so fun to mock a crying baby??

She is starting to cut teeth I think, she is a CRAZY drool monster lately!

ALWAYS a cheese ball!!

Beatrix and her Bumbo

I just bought Beatrix a Bumbo seat and she loves it!! We think she looks a little like Yoda in it, but thats okay!~

Etsy Baby Shower

I have been loving and buying things for awhile now from an online site called etsy. Well they are having a baby shower for fall babies right now!! Lucky for me, Beatrix is included! It has been a really fun experience and made me realize just how loving and giving people can be! One of the shops that picked me is owned by a great woman named Susana and coincidentally has a little girl named Beatriz (She is Portuguese and that is the Portuguese way to spell/pronounce Beatrix, which is the Italian way to spell/pronounce Beatrice...whew!) If your ever on etsy.com her shop is sweetmoods and it's great!
and here is a picture of the door hanger she made Beatrix

Bea is also getting a super cute elephant (she has quite the collection growing, I think this will make a total of 4 now!)

Doesn't every little girl need a girlie sock monkey blanket??

She is also going to get the cutest little socks with her name and little bees on the bottom!! Beatrix is getting 6 beautiful handmade welcome to the world baby gifts from perfect strangers, just because they are super generous and nice! Right now I really ♥ etsy.com. So If you read this and want to waste some time on the Internet browsing, definitely check out etsy.com (and no, I am not affiliated with them!!!)

GOBAMA!!!

Today was a great day, we all watched the inauguration on TV and Jackson was fascinated by it. He has been in awe of Barack Obama for awhile and this was just the icing on the cake for him. He thinks it's so cool that he has been through two presidents already!! The whole time they were talking about how important this was because Obama is the first black president and Jackson in his infinite innocence said "why does it matter if he's black?" To him the issue of color was nothing to be surprised about. It makes me feel good that my son is living in a time where he doesn't see color. He just sees a guy that is now President and to him that makes Obama cool! There are people who love Obama, who hate him and who could care less about him. The important thing is that he IS our President now and everyone needs to just wish him well and hope he keeps his promises. The Sears house though is definitely TEAM OBAMA!!!

Trials and tribulations of Beatrix and her bum

We went to Children's Mercy today to have the first checkup on Bea's bottom. Prognosis: GOOD!! Dr. Sharp said that she is healing great and even gave her a dilation. She didn't even flinch! I guess when you have had things put in your bum since you were born you kind of think that's the way it is! She will be dilated 3-4 times a day for about 6 more months and then she should be done. Whew!! What a fun time that will be dilating a 9 month olds bottom! At least now I have the superior strength over her, but at 9 months I have a feeling those leg muscles of hers will be stronger than I can imagine. But she is healing and healthy and that is all that matters!

Prose for Jackson

Jackson

The first time I gazed into your eyes

I knew true unconditional love existed

You made me believe in God again.

For how could such a blessing have been given to me by anyone else?

The way I felt was overwhelming

Love, fear, hope all rolled into one

You are now a boy, not a baby

yet when I look at your face I see the innocence of youth.

Inquisitive and intense, you are my wild child

I cherish that about you

I see your trust in myself and in life

and I want to shelter you

The existence of you made me believe in fate

You are my fate

You are my love

Prose for Bea

Beatrix

A smile, melts my soul

A cry breaks my heart

Fingers grasp at complete trust,

there is no disapointment.

To you I am constant ~

to me you are perfection.

A fierceness overcomes my being

when I imagine your face.

Longing for the life we will experience

yet lingering in the present we now posess.

Everything I wanted was given to me by you.

Osiris the Magnificent

So Jackson was looking at this blog earlier, and after I explained what it was, he was really upset that I had not included any "pictures or words" about another family member we have. Osiris the cat. Osiris came to our family in 2002 and he thinks he is a dog. He has never used a litter box, just goes outside when he needs to go, which can be annoying in the middle of the night when he will pat my head with his paw until I wake up so he can go outside. Osiris also likes to leave us little presents on our back porch, headless birds, squirrels and bunnies. I know it's a sign of respect but come on, how gross! He loves to play hard and use his claws but he has never once in his adult life used force with any baby or child. He really likes the smell of Beatrix's head! Osiris is a great cat and now Jackson will be happy that his buddy has his own post!

Update on Bea's bum

I think that whatever local anesthesia they used on Bea's bottom has officially worn off. She has officially shown that she can be a little nuts. Eating does seem to make her happier (big surprise!) and she is getting baby Tylenol, but you can definitely tell that she is uncomfortable. Or I should say SHE lets you know she is uncomfortable. I wonder if they sell little baby sized donuts, like the ones for people with bad hemorrhoids? At least today she would take a couple of naps. Yesterday I think she slept a total of 20 minutes until bedtime. I was never so happy to put a bay to bed in my life! At least the scary surgery part is over, the rest is just recovery and we can deal with that! Although I think Jackson is not to fond of her fussiness. He asked if he was spending the night with Nona and Poppy tonight and when I told him no, he was with us tonight, he said we needed to call Poppy because he was pretty sure that he was supposed to be there!

Surgery accomplished

Beatrix had her surgery today and everything went great! It has been a long day for all of us, especially little Miss Bea. She was so good throughout the entire ordeal.I think she started crying maybe once the entire time we were at the hospital and that lasted only a few minutes because the greatest nurse in history did this neat warm blanket papoose thing (which I have repeated tonight and it totally worked)! She was still pretty out of it after the surgery though, I think my little girl was a little high! Nona, Chris and I went to First Watch after to eat and she didn't make a peep. We even got through her first poop when we got home. Granted it took two adults to adequately clean one little bottom but I think I have the hang of it now. For some reason I get the poop detail 90% of the time! We have a checkup in two weeks to check her progress and then monthly checkups for a few months. All in all it was a success and she has been zonked all day, although when she was a wake today she just laughed and gurgled and had super happy times (after she ate of course!).

I wish I got cool Looney Toones hospital gowns when I went to the hospital

This is how she has been for the majority of the night!

Bea's Surgery

Beatrix has her surgery tomorrow at 6 am. The technical term for the surgery she is having is anoplasty. She cannot have anything to eat after 1:30 and nothing except water or pedialyte (neither of which she has ever had before) until 4 am. She is going to be one pissed off bay at 6am. She loves to eat and when she wants to and doesn't get to, watch out. We put her to bed early tonight so Chris can wake her up at 1am and give her a big fat feeding. Then hopefully she will go back to sleep until we can get her to Children's Mercy. I have not been very nervous about her having surgery until tonight. It's like it's all real now. Luckily we live so close to the best Children's hospital EVER, and we have a great surgeon. Bea has no idea whats in store for her tomorrow so I think somehow I just get to experience both of our concerns rolled into one giant balloon of "Oh shit, this is really happening". Thank God for my parents Jackson is with them tonight and Poppy will be taking him to school and picking him up and my mom will be with me at the hospital, which is comforting. Wish good thoughts and say a prayer for Beatrix the Beauty♥
